2011 The Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Majority of Highlanders reprise an option of all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive. Electric or gas, Limited, Sport, and Base trim levels have arrived again for 2010. The models with base trim level uses a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine for 187-hp. On the Limited and Sport trims a 3.5-liter V6 engine comes as standard, whereas on base trim it is available optionally. The V6 engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, but 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine teams up with 5-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota's Economical, But Powerful I4 Engine
Though a four cylinder engine has long been offered for the company's mid-size SUV, the new 2.7L I4 engine will be paired with an all-new six-speed electronically-controlled automatic overdrive transmission. Together, the two components are expected to give the Highlander class leading power and fuel economy, two of the most important attributes for today's vehicles.
